United Way and Community Impact
Over the past couple years, United Way has embarked on a new strategy we call our Community Impact Model. In short, this is a call to action for United Way to expand its work and role in community to not only help individuals and families, but to also provide leadership to bring the community together to change community conditions, such as unemployment, poverty, the lack of affordable child care, and adult illiteracy.
New Roles and New Opportunities
This move to a Community Impact Agenda affects everything we do. To be successful at changing community conditions, United Way is increasing its leadership to mobilize volunteers on a year round basis. We are committed to being more strategic and active in community planning and partnerships. And we are working harder to generate more resources (money, in-kind, time) that can be leveraged to create positive impacts throughout the community.
Moving Forward
As we move forward, we are strengthening relationships with our Partner Agencies while developing new partnerships to maximize results in community. These new partnerships include: Summer Care, the Imagination Library, the Prosperity Campaign, the United Way Children’s Book Drive, My Family’s Future, and more.
While maintaining our commitment to supporting a wide array of proven safety net programs, we are also launching our Family Well-Being Agenda, focusing on helping low income famlies increase their participation in the work force, access needed education and training, increase their knowledge and skills with respect to financial literacy, and obtain affordable, quality child care throughout Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties.
